Walks and links

The Loch Leven Heritage Trail is a circular path of 13 miles / 21 km around the loch. As it is level and barrier-free for most of its length, it is suitable for walkers of all ages and abilities, cyclists, runners and wheelchair and motorised scooter users. Use our interactive maps below to plan and follow the route around Loch Leven.

Access Information: This mostly flat path is designed to be accessible for all abilities and has numerous access points. The South-Western section between Kinross and RSPB Scotland includes a challenging rise to the viewpoint.

Entry points to start the loop (with varying distances to reach the path) include:

  • The Boathouse Car Park, Kinross. (Free parking with public toilet access).
  • Cashmere at Loch Leven, Kinross. (Limited public parking).
  • RSPB Scotland Loch Leven. (Paid parking with cafe, visitor centre and toilets).
  • Loch Levens Larder, Wester Balgedie. (Free parking, cafe, farm shop, toilets).
  • Lochend Farm Shop. (Free parking, cafe, farm shop, toilets).
  • Findatie. (Free parking, cafe).
  • Portmoak Moss, Scotlandwell. (Free public parking. Rough trail to access path).
  • Burleigh Sands. (Free public parking).
  • Kirkgate Park. (Free public parking, public toilets and access to cafes in Kinross).
